Public Chairs
Proposal
Rendering: Derek McLeod
The Public Chair lounge draws its visual language from the work of French architect and designer Jean Prouvé. Like his chairs which utilize a steel frame and are topped with wooden seating elements, this lounge takes advantage of the properties of steel – strength and malleability and combines it with the tactility and flexibility of wood where the body is in contact with the chair. The chair is meant for Trinity Bellwoods Park in Toronto, a much loved, but in this designer's opinion, underfurnished place to spend a sunny afternoon.
