Cast Iron, 2010

The cast iron table takes the language of industry and puts it on display within the home. It is a small side table which is cast in iron as a single piece of metal. After being cast it is Blanchard ground, a process done on a specialized machine which makes the top surface flat and parallel to the bottom within 0.001”, while leaving a circular pattern. The table expresses the fluidity of the molten iron used to create the curved shapes while the top displays the intricacy of technique used to make a nearly perfect surface.
