Making things
The Cast Iron Table is alive and kicking down at Heavy Metal - New Cast Objects running from January 20 - 30 at Paul Petro Special Projects, 962 Queen Street West. Go have a look at all of the great new products in this rockin' show organized by Joy Charbonneau and featuring some of Toronto's best designers.
I have also been hard at work on a major architectural project (in my books anything bigger than a table is major...), which has been a collaboration with Joy Charbonneau. It involves a substantial renovation to a typical Toronto home, rebuilding the rear half (see - major), and filling it with exquisite furniture, millwork and details.
Way back in early 2009, I completed and installed a lovely custom bookshelf that occupies the home office of a design professional. The shelf is based on a grid of square and rectangular modules and fills the length of the space while reaching into it's lofty height.
On the horizon is a new table which is based on a minimalist metal frame and is offered with stone or wood tops. The frame is flat-pack friendly for shipping and is available in chrome or a variety of powdercoat colours. More details will be available soon.

A new website?!!
What better way to start the new year than with a brand spanking new website - either that or a couple of new products! 2009 will see the introduction of my 15 Light - a pendant light fixture that will look great in your home, office, restaurant, bar, cottage, you name it. There will be a grandiose launch held at the Gladstone Hotel as part of their annual Come Up to My Room design show, February 5 - 8. The lights are completely made in this province (within an hour of Toronto between all of the suppliers) - a rare thing in our globalized economy. Production has been underway for some time, meaning that the lights will be available for purchase following the show. Work is ongoing on my Aluminum tables which are made from cast aluminum which gets ground flat to within 0.001" across its surface - cool!
